Most changes are minor and do not entitle customers to cancel, claim compensation or receive a refund.

Examples of minor changes may include:

a change to flight times or itinerary duration by twelve hours or less;
a change of airline, aircraft type, transfer provider or transport provider;
a change to accommodation of the same or higher official standard, classification or overall value;
a change to a cruise vessel of equivalent classification, rating or standard;
a change to the order of sightseeing, excursions, activities or itinerary flow;
a change to room, suite, villa or cabin allocation within the same or equivalent category;
operational changes made by hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise lines, local authorities or destination suppliers.

When assessing whether alternative arrangements are of equivalent quality, we may consider objective factors including official star rating or supplier classification, overall booking value, accommodation or cruise category tier, core amenities, destination or resort area, board basis, occupancy capacity and overall standard.

Subjective preferences, personal expectations, perceived differences in atmosphere, décor, layout, design, style, service culture, room position, view, ambience or personal taste will not determine whether arrangements are equivalent.

Examples of major changes before departure may include:

relocating accommodation or cruise arrangements to a lower official standard for all or a substantial part of your holiday;
downgrading to accommodation, cruise ship, room, suite, villa or cabin of a lower category where no equivalent alternative is provided;
extending or shortening the overall itinerary by more than twelve hours;
removing one or more main destinations from your itinerary entirely;
making a significant reduction to the main contracted services;
changing the UK departure airport, except between London airports or nearby regional airports.

If a major change or cancellation is required, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.

Where time permits before departure, we will offer you the following options:

accept the revised arrangements;
cancel your holiday and receive a refund of the monies paid to us for the affected package holiday;
accept alternative arrangements of similar quality, where available, with a refund or additional payment applied for any price difference;
accept a credit note where offered and where permitted by law.

You must inform us of your decision within the deadline stated in our notification. If no specific deadline is stated, you must respond within 48 hours of our notification.

Failure to respond within the stated deadline may be treated as acceptance of the modified or alternative arrangements, where permitted by law.

Compensation will not be payable, and the options above may not apply, where the change is minor, cancellation results from your failure to comply with payment terms, the change or cancellation results from your breach, the change is requested by you, the change relates to non-essential elements, the change is caused by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, or the change is supplier-controlled and the overall standard and core services remain equivalent.

For this purpose, non-essential elements are components that do not affect the overall destination, duration, standard or core services of the holiday.

Nothing in this clause excludes or limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 or other applicable consumer law.
